Care Closet started as a clothing store. The founder's wife died of cancer. During his own therapy, he realized: he could afford to heal. Most people can't. He turned his wife's store into something else: a system that collects donated clothing, sells it, and uses the proceeds to fund therapy for people who've lost someone to sudden tragedy. Then he turned that into a startup with home pickup, digital platform, and scalable logistics. The problem: nobody understood any of this from the outside.

The mission was powerful. The mechanism was invisible. When people heard clothing donation, they thought charity bin. They didn't understand that a jacket they no longer wore could pay for someone's grief counseling. That gap between what it was and what people thought it was, was killing donor and user acquisition.
